Activities freezing on iPads

We've had several reports of activities freezing on iPads, specifically when using the Safari browser. These seems to be due to a function in Safari that prevents the audio from playing without interaction from the user.

The easiest solution could be to use the Chrome browser for Smart Futures, if possible. This can be accomplished by opening Chrome and entering the Portal URL (http://portal.smartfutures.org), or by creating a
shortcut for student devices that forces Chrome (googlechrome://portal.smartfutures.org).

When using the Safari browser, try the following steps give the browser permission to autoplay the audio:
  1. Tap on the Exit icon on the left side and select "Restart Presentation."
  2. When on the initial slide of the presentation, tap the Refresh icon in the URL bar to refresh the page.
  3. Wait 2 seconds (this is important to make sure the data that is autosaved registers the correct slide of the presentation/activity).
  4. Tap the button to begin the activity.
