Using the Student Portfolio

Using the Student Portfolio

We have released an updated Portfolio area of the student Smart Futures website. This updated Portfolio area will make it easier for students to log their activities as they relate to the FutureReady goals.
There are 8 areas of the Portfolio.
  1. Career Pathway Experiences
  2. Career Acquisition Documents
  3. Industry Recognized Credentials (previously Future Ready Skills)
  4. Uploaded Artifacts
  5. Art & Media
  6. Honors & Awards
  7. Test Score
  8. Extracurricular
  9. Work Experience
  10. Community Experience

Career Pathway Experiences

This section is where students will add documentation for things like College Fairs, Summer Programs, Campus Visits, Job Shadows, Mentorships, and Other Events.
Artifacts added in this area are automatically aligned to 13.1 Career Awareness and Preparation CEW strand.

For each type of experience, the Student can enter the required information by filling out of form specific to each type of experience.

Career Acquisition Documents

This section is where students will upload documents such as their Resume, Cover Letters, Letters of Recommendation, References, and Other Docs. Files can be .doc/,docx, .pages, or .pdf. All file uploads have a 5MB file limit. This is also where the Resume Builder now lives.
Artifacts added in this area are automatically aligned to 13.2 Career Acquisition CEW strand

Industry Recognized Credentials (formerly Future Ready Skills)

For CTE Students: This area can be used for adding documentation for an official Industry Recognized Credential.
For non-CTE Students: This area will also list passed SKILLS assessments (micro-credentials) from Smart Futures/Northstar Digital Literacy. Each passed micro-credential also counts as a Career Ready Artifact.

Uploaded Artifacts

This section is for documenting Career Ready Artifacts (and supporting evidence) for anything done outside of Smart Futures, especially for artifacts that are not aligned to the standards of the other sections listed above, specifically 13.3 Career Retention and Advancement and 13.4 Entrepreneurship CEW strands. Each artifact that is added here must be tagged with the appropriate Strand and Standard when it is added.
If you have questions about alignment, you can refer to the PA Career Education and Work Standards.
